It’s true: Norwegians are required to have a visa. Thankfully, getting a tourist visa to Canada from Norway is quick and simple – we’ll show you what you need and how to do so!
Do Norwegian citizens need a visa for Canada?
Yes – all Norwegian travelers are required to hold a Canadian visa before they can legally enter the country. The good news is, obtaining a visa to Canada from Norway is easy. All it takes is a few pieces of information, a device with an internet connection, and about 30 minutes of your time.
Canadian ETA requirements for Norweigan citizens
Before you can get a visa for Canada from Norway, there are a few requirements that must be met. They include the following:
- A valid biometric Norwegian passport – All Norwegian citizens must have a valid passport in order to receive a Canadian eTA visa and travel to Canada. The eTA is electronically linked to your passport. We also recommend having a minimum of 6 months validity in your passport so that you can enter and exit the country without any problems
- Documents with Personal Information – While filling out the application, all travelers will need to provide information that pertains to their passport, personal information (address, contact information), employment, and travel details/itinerary. We recommend keeping these documents nearby so that you can easily access them while going through the application.
- A phone, tablet, or computer device – In order to fill out the application, travelers will need a device with internet access, such as a phone, tablet, or computer
- A valid form of payment – Finally, travelers will need a valid form of payment, such as a debit or credit card, to pay the eTA application fees and ultimately submit their application
Once all of these requirements have been met, you are eligible to apply for a Canadian electronic travel authorization. Please see the next section for instructions on how to do so.
How to apply for an ETA Canada from Norway
If you are ready to take the final step and get your Canadian eTA, then you must start an eTA application for Norwegian citizens. The application takes about 30 minutes to complete, which includes answering all of the questions and paying the eTA fee. In most cases, the average wait time is only a few minutes – applicants can expect to receive a decision almost instantly, although some requests can take several days to process due to various factors.
The application itself is simple and straightforward: applicants will need to fill out a few questions about themselves (full name, date of birth), their contact details (address, email), employment history, and travel itinerary.
Once the Canadian electronic authorization “visa” is granted, it is automatically linked to your passport. Your Canadian eTA is valid for five years, or until your passport expires, whichever comes first. If you plan to travel to Canada multiple times over the years, it means that you will not need to reapply for the eTA every time you want to visit. Likewise, the Canadian eTA can be used for multiple entries as long as they are under 90 days in duration.
Finally, we recommend applying for your Canadian eTA at least 72 hours (3 days) in advance so that there is enough time to process it.
Whether you have one week or one month, there are plenty of amazing adventures to be had in Canada. Once you have chosen Canada as your destination, all you need to do is secure your Canadian eTA, plan your trip, book a ticket, and enjoy!
